Overview

These anti-slip plywood products are available in a range of decorative surface coverings, each pattern offering slightly different characteristics suitable for flooring and other uses.

The panels are used extensively in the manufacture and repair of vehicles and flight cases, the installation of stagings & disabled access ramps. They can be used wherever a flooring surface is required to be slip-resistant.

These plywoods are available in a wide range of thicknesses and sizes, and we can also cut to size and machine/profile to your specific requirements.

Slip-Resistant Plywood Surface Types

Phenolic resin faced plywoods are an exterior birch plywood core faced with a hard-wearing phenolic resin, which offers a variety of different patterns for appearance and in some cases particular end-uses. In general, wear-resistance is enhanced as the amount of resin bonded to the surface of the plywood is increased.

Polyolefin faced plywoods are coated with a hard-wearing, UV-resistant polyolefin (polyester) covering, that does not contain any chlorine derivatives, and is taint & odour free. These exterior flooring plywoods offering good wear resistance properties and high colour stability (6-7 according to DIN 54004).

Carat Plywood - Phenolic Resin

A raised pattern consisting of thousands of small raised diamond shapes, which very effectively distributes point loads, thus reducing the bearing stress on the face veneer, improving the shear strength of the face veneer, and allowing it to bear heavier point loads.

Additionally, the small diamond pattern makes the surface slip resistant, while remaining extremely easy to keep clean.

An extremely hard-wearing flooring that is also often used as a decorative surface

Crown Plywood - Phenolic Resin

A 10mm diameter slip resistant raised circular pattern with each instance surrounded by six others in a repeating hexagonal configuration

The raised slip-resistant pattern maintains its anti-slip properties under a wide range of climatic conditions and is therefore an ideal material for demanding flooring applications

Hexagon Plywood - Phenolic Resin

A hexagonal slip resistant raised area of approximately 10mm in diameter surrounded by six others in a repeating hexagonal configuration, with approx 2mm margin between it and its nearest neighbours.

The raised pattern maintains its antiskid properties under a wide range of climatic conditions and is therefore an ideal material for demanding flooring applications.

Commonly used in the manufacture of flight cases and for decorative effects

Mesh Plywood - Phenolic Resin

The simplest & most widely-known pattern of slip-resistant plywoods, this panel is widely used where a slip-resistant finish is required at a competitive price.

Can also be supplied on pine or other core for lower cost where the end-use is a temporary or one-off installation

Auto Plywood - Polyolefin

The surface of this non-slip plywood is covered with a series of circular areas of approximately 3mm in diameter. Each raised area is surrounded by six others in a repeating hexagonal configuration with approx. 4mm margin between them.

The slip-resistant surface coating is a 0.2mm thick grey polyolefin surface coating and the panel is supplied with a smooth polyolefin balancer to the reverse, unless otherwise agreed.

Step Plywood - Polyolefin

The surface of this skid-resistant plywood is covered with a checker pattern of approx. 7mm square, that is turned through 90 degrees with approx. 2mm between each patterned area.

The slip-resistant surface coating is a 1.15mm thick black or grey polyolefin surface coating and the panel is supplied with a smooth paper balancer to the reverse, unless otherwise agreed.

Technical Information

  • Construction
    • Exterior birch plywood faced with a slip-resistant, patterned phenolic resin coating that offers enhanced safety in the form of a resilient and water-proof anti-slip surface
  • Thickness
    • 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 21mm, 24mm, 27mm, 30mm
      (plus surface coating)
  • Standard sizes
    • 1200 / 1220 / 1250 x 2400 / 2440 / 2500mm
    • 1200 / 1220 x 3000 / 3050 / 3300 / 3600 / 4000mm
    • 1500 / 1525 / 1880 x 2400 / 2440 / 3000 / 3050 / 3600 / 4000mm
  • Special sizes
    • In principle, any size can be produced up to the maximum stated above
      (or 2900x13000mm if scarf jointed)
  • Surface coating
    • Hard-wearing phenolic-based or polyolefin film, typically to one side with smooth surface to the reverse
  • Edge treatment
    • Typically sealed with exterior acrylic paint to protect against moisture
    • Notes:
      1. If the panels are subsequently cut to size, any newly exposed edges must be fully resealed using a suitable exterior protection system (e.g. acrylic paint)
      2. Rounding any sharp corners & edges will greatly help in the resealing process, as this will better allow the paint to fully adhere
      3. It is also highly recommended that after drilling holes or similar other areas where the water-resistant protective surface has been broken are sealed in a similar manner
  • Wear rating
    • Taber abrasion value = 800R-1500R (EN 438-2), depending upon the coating
  • Tolerances
    • Length/width: up to 1m @ ±1mm, up to 2m @ ±2mm , 2m & above @ ±3mm
