Oak Plywood

Decorative oak faced birch plywood is available from stock (Commercial Joinery Grade Crown Oak A/A), This is used extensively in the manufacture of joinery & shopfitting furniture. Oak faced lightweight poplar plywood and oak faced gaboon / okoume marine plywood can be produced to special production order.

Oak-throughout plywood can be used in a variety of different ways and is suitable for many applications. It is commonly requested for its hard-wearing surface layer veneer (e.g. for flooring applications), or due to its high strength & rigidity (e.g. musical instruments). It is also regularly used in the manufacture of decorative furniture, where the core is to be seen, or even accentuated.

This wood is also available in the form of: European Oak Triply 3-Layer Panels and decorative oak veneered panels & doors

This product is supplied with Commercial Joinery or Premier Architectural Grade sliced oak veneers bonded on a high quality plywood core in the form of oak faced birch plywood, oak faced lightweight poplar plywood, or oak faced gaboon / okoume lightweight marine plywood.

These face veneers are normally 0.6mm before sanding, but faces of 1.4mm or 2.4mm oak veneer can also be used for decorative edge finish and/or bonded using D4 glue where panels may be exposed to higher moisture content.

Sometimes customers ask for oak veneers to be bonded onto a core of our Oak Triply Three-Layer Panels in order to have a bookmatched veneer face on a core that allows deep machining, e.g. v-grooves to be carved into the surface without exposing a different core.

Crown Oak Faced Plywood - Commercial Joinery Class A

• Class A
  • Sliced oak veneers
  • Bookmatched as standard, or otherwise jointed as requested

  • A balancer of the same species
  • As Class A plus any non-open defects that preclude it being used as a face, e.g.

Oak throughout plywood is supplied with closed core, i.e. all open defects are removed from the core.

Oak faced plywood will rely upon the plywood used for its core, e.g. birch plywood or lightweight poplar plywood
