Plum Veneered Panels & Jointed Veneer
View Plum veneered panels & doors in full size
The Plum Tree came to Europe from Asia Minor and the tree still grows to some extent in closed forests. Only the fruit yielding Plum Tree is considered for the production of veneer and veneers over 2m are very seldom found. Because of its rareness, it is only used for high quality architectural or restoration work.
Plum heartwood is red to violet-brown, to some extent with darker lines, which makes it decorative, and the tree is very seldom over 30 years old.
The wood is dense, hard and difficult to work and finished surfaces have a beautiful lustre. Due to
its beautiful colour and texture, silky lustre or polished surfaces are to be recommended and are not
difficult to produce using Plum veneer.
