Tamo Ash Veneered Panels & Jointed Veneer

View Tamo Ash veneered panels & doors in full size

Tamo Ash is also called Damo, Tamo Yachidamo, Tamo, and is found extensively throughout southeast Asia, especially Japan, Korea, Manchuria and Sachalin. The main sources for supply to the UK are based on the Honshu and Hokkaido islands of Japan.

The colour of Tamo Ash is straw biscuit coloured to light brown and slightly darker than that of White Ash. Colourful Tamo and Tamo Burls are excellently suited for the production of very decorative veneers.

Although Tamo Ash veneer grain is normally straight, it can be wavy and curly, producing a 'peanut' figured wood, which is the most commonly seen type of veneer made from this specie. The texture is coarse and all the usual surface finishes, such as stains and varnishes, can be used without difficulty.
